OACAS is thrilled to announce that registration is now open for the 2021 virtual YouthCAN Conference, Beyond Survive: THRIVE! Join us August 10 and 11 for what is sure to be a fun, engaging, and educational couple of days.
Since 2006, OACAS has organized an annual YouthCAN Conference, with the goal of exposing youth in and from care to post-secondary options and career opportunities, building valuable life skills through communication, advocacy, and networking, and making new friends and having fun. Once again, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s conference will be held virtually on Zoom.
The focus of Beyond Survive: THRIVE! is on bringing young people in and from care together to strengthen connections, celebrate community, and build capacity. This year’s theme is health (emotional, mental, physical and relational) and well-being. Some examples of workshops include Healthy Relationships; Mind, Body and Movement; Healing Art; and Eating Well and Wisely. There will also be a talent show on the second day, including a headlining act from Warner Music Canada.
Participants will also be eligible to use the time toward their high school community service hours (if applicable).
Interested youth and relevant staff can register by filling out the form here.
Please share the conference details with any young person in and from care who may be interested in attending. Download the flyer here.
We will also be sharing conference updates through social media, so make sure you’re following us on Twitter and Instagram at @ont_youthcan and on Facebook at facebook.com/ontarioyouthcan.org.
A special thank you to the OACAS Youth Services team and the YouthCAN planning committee for all of their hard work to plan and execute this year’s conference.
