The Ontario Association of Children’s Aid Societies (OACAS) is excited to announce the appointment of Solomon Owoo as the new Chief Executive Officer, effective September 30, 2024. This decision follows a thorough search process conducted by the OACAS Executive Search Committee, which included CAS Executive Directors, OACAS Board members, and sector partners, in collaboration with Odgers Berndtson Canada.
Solomon Owoo has over 20 years of experience in providing strategic, operational, and financial leadership across various sectors. Solomon’s diverse background spans children services, healthcare, senior care, public accounting, public and private sectors. Over the last year, Solomon has stepped into the interim CEO role at OACAS and has spent much of his time in fostering meaningful partnership and relationship with member agencies, government stakeholders, and community partners. Solomon brings not only a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing Ontario’s child welfare, but a dedication and commitment to ensuring children, youth, and families across Ontario are able to get the supports and services they need to help them thrive. The committee believes that Solomon brings visionary and transformative leadership, and we are confident that Solomon will guide OACAS towards further accomplishments and sustained growth.
Catherine Simunovic, Chair of the OACAS Board of Directors, expressed enthusiasm for Solomon’s appointment: “We are thrilled to welcome Solomon as our new CEO. Solomon expressed excitement about his new role stating: “I am honored to be appointed as the leader of OACAS and to be able to work alongside our dedicated staff, member agencies, and partners. I am committed to working in partnership with all stakeholders to create a child welfare system that truly meets the needs of Ontario’s diverse communities. We must all work together to wrap around our children, youth, and families.”
